The Saint Aulaye Castle

Built in the 10th and 11th centuries by the Lords of Saint Aulaye, thecastle on its promontory ridge overlooks the river Dronne. Until the seventeenth century, it knew several owner, all lords, but was finally abandoned after the French revolution and was considered as a National heritage.

The Saint Aulaye castle was bought and renovated in 1887 in a neo-Renaissance style by Professor Viault, eminent scientist and mayor of the village. Not having any offspring, he will pass it on to his sister married to a local character. The castle will be rented to a writer and then bought by the town hall in 1958.

Today, it is home to the Saint Aulaye Town Hall and forms part of the municipality's rich heritage .
